What has the impact been?
The international version of this metric (Poverty Stoplight) has a presence in countries such as USA, UK and parts of South America. Its usage is growing in South Africa and we have started to geo-map survey data of programmes in the Greenlight Movement.
Big data can be generated through aggregated info and displayed on a web mapping platform, offering a better perspective of the real issues at hand in specific areas of the country, and scaling for a national snapshot in time. These maps can enhance decision-making for government services such as electricity and sanitation and can influence priorities for engagement.
We are currently generating a map of all (a) the organisations using the Greenlight approach and (b) the results of the surveys from 2015 to present, for each indicator. We can’t wait to see the big picture of South Africa. We’ll keep you posted for 2023!
The Benefits
Organisations delivering social impacts through poverty-related programmes, enterprise development initiatives, and upliftment and empowerment community-based projects will benefit greatly from the Greenlight approach.
