Data Analyst for Social Impact
The Greenlight Office is a non-profit company that assists organisations to measure, understand, evidence, and articulate their social impact. We require people who can work within a small, highly performing team, and hold confidence around our Greenlight Movement members and their social projects.
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated data analyst to join our team and drive our mission of maximizing social impact through data-driven insights. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data analysis, monitoring and evaluation, and a deep commitment to contribute to social change.
As our Data Analyst for Social Impact, you will be responsible for collating, analysing, and managing data to support our organisation’s goals and help our partners in the Greenlight Movement to measure and optimise their social impact. You will work closely with our team and stakeholders to develop and implement data-driven strategies that drive meaningful change.
Duties
- Data mining, analysis, reports, management
- Manage the processes that support the assessment of social impact initiatives, framed within the Greenlight approach and methodology.
- Analyse complex social impact data sets to uncover insights, trends, and recommendations coming in from members (orgs and programmes) in the Greenlight Movement.
- Generate/write reports to effectively communicate progress of projects to internal team and external stakeholders.
- Maintain dashboards and system-based reports to surface aggregated data for internal reporting at local, provincial, and country level.
- Liaise with Greenlight Movement members on longitudinal assessments and the progress of annual data sets, related to social impact.
- Provide guidance and support to Greenlight Movement members on data-driven decision-making and impact optimisation strategies and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Business Intelligence and data systems
- Ensure data integrity, confidentiality, and security across all social impact systems, in collaboration with Tech/BI team.
- Ensure data quality through data verification procedures, including routine data quality audits, and ensure that these are routinely carried out for each Greenlight Movement member journey.
- Collaborate with the Tech/BI team to ensure alignment between data capture & data visualization.
- Ensure alignment between data systems.
- Strategy and planning
- Cultivate strategic relationships and alliances with Greenlight Movement members.
- Use data to contribute towards strategic decision-making and project planning with leadership.
- Make recommendations for improvement of data systems and value-add for Greenlight Movement members.
- New metrics, research and development
- Support the Chief Enabler to design, pilot, and implement new Greenlight data collection metrics.
- Conduct research and stay up-to-date with industry best practices in social impact measurement and evaluation.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Social Sciences, Economics, M&E, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- 2-5 years of experience in data analysis, monitoring and evaluation, or social impact measurement in the development sector.
- Experience with statistical analysis, survey design, and impact evaluation methodologies.
- Experience in designing tools and strategies for data collection, analysis, and production of reports.
- Proficiency in Excel/SQL.
- Expertise in analysing data using statistical software or data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) – advantageous.
- Knowledge of social impact metrics, frameworks, and best practices.
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
- Need to be able to work independently.
- High attention to detail to produce accurate reports and data.
- Highly organised and efficient, with the ability to prioritise competing demands and tasks across multiple areas.
- High levels of curiosity and emotional intelligence.
- Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills.
- Strong integrity and confidentiality.

- As a virtual company, we work remotely, and you will need to have a home-office that can cope with this role’s requirements. We try and meet monthly in person, thus a Cape Town or JHB resident is preferable.
