Tech Ranger
We are looking for an intermediate technical all-rounder to join our team – our Tech Ranger! Summary of the role
- This is a full-time position reporting into the Operations Officer but working closely with the Chief Enabler, Ops Maestro, and Connexion Captain.
- The role is to ensure the smooth functioning of all aspects of the IT function within the organisation, from internal IT support through to advising and guiding the organisation on strategic future-focused IT solutions.
- We require a tech lead, someone with a can-do attitude (self-starter) who is happiest solving a wide range of challenges across the entire technical spectrum and who is excited about owning all things tech, in their domain. The role straddles delivering on daily tasks and tech leadership.
- You must have good experience working with data and business analysis.
- This position is a pathway to leadership of a tech team, as the business grows.
- You need to be interested in and curious about the social economy and making an impact within South Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa through meaningful work.

- As a virtual company, we work remotely, and you will need to have a home-office that can cope with this role’s requirements. We try and meet monthly in person, thus a Cape Town or JHB resident is preferable.
- This position is a permanent employee position, but a long-term contract is negotiable.
- Salary is dependent on experience: R40,000 – R70,000 per month.
- Hours: 09:00 – 16:30.
- Option for co-working space to be provided, if necessary.
- Three-month probation period before signing of employee contract agreement.

Duties
The following is a list of duties that make up the position, where the position will be busy but the workload is not heavy.
- Define and map business process improvements and technology requirements for the organisation, as systems evolve.
- Liaise with outsourced IT development vendors regarding requirements and solutions for scaling in the next 2-4 years.
- Develop reports and assist in analysing business data to inform strategic decision making.
- Greenlight App and Platform – (a) Maintenance and development cycle for the application, (b) Troubleshooting and testing, coordinating changes, (c) Migration of data from old platform to new platform, with data integrity.
- Writing specs and ensuring Phase 2 and Phase 3 of the tech strategy is implemented.
- Craft solutions for Business Intelligence and ensure a strong bias towards future-focused technical solutions such as AI.
- Responsible for Help Desk function (internal and external) by developing and managing help desk to: (a) Support Greenlight facilitators and users on the ground, (b) Support all tech queries, (c) Liaise with Greenlight members about tech upgrades on app and platform.
- Website – (a) Maintenance and updates, (b) Liaise with website developers for support, (c) All internal IT support.
- General data governance and security (protection).
- Data integration and integrity.
- Curate content on resource portals as well as manage access in conjunction with YouTube Channels and LMS.
- No coding is required.
- Potential for working with AI.

- Mobile app – Flutter
- Web-based platform – Node JS, Angular, Java, NoSQL
- Webapp / Forms – WordPress
Requirements, qualifications, competencies
- A relevant tertiary qualification.
- At least 4-6 years’ working experience within the domain of data management and business analysis.
- Experience in business process improvement and project management and systems management.
- Good Excel skills for reporting, migration of data, and analysis.
- Attention to detail with strong planning and organisational skills.
- Excellent initiative, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Good interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills (can work within a small team).
- High levels of curiosity.
